The Learning and Academic Resources department offers a variety of learning skills courses. These courses are designed to assist students in developing strategies and in acquiring the information necessary for academic success. All courses cover basic study skills including time management, memory techniques, notetaking, textbook study, test preparation and test-taking skills.

LEARN 11
Learn 11 is a two-unit, college-level, full semester study skills course. In Learn 11 students are given an opportunity to practice and adopt college learning skills through a combination of lectures, exercises, practice assignments, small group discussion, assessments and individualized instruction.
Learn 11 is transferable to the California State Universities and is offered on a Credit / No-Credit basis.

LEARN 20
This course is designed to assist the student-athlete in synthensizing his or her strengths in athletics with academic strengths for increased academic success. Emphasis will be placed on introducing the student-athlete to the expectations of higher education and on developing techniques and skills necessary for achieving academic success.
Students will develop awareness of and management strategies for the special personal and social demands of college athletics. Students will also be introduced to the regulations and expectations of athletic governing bodies (e.g. NCAA, COA).

LEARN 610
Learn 610 is a non-credit course that allows students to receive study skills assistance in a variety of forms (including instructor appointments, workshops or videotapes) without requiring a specific number of hours or assignments.
Students may sign-up in CLAS for Learn 610 appointments at LAC or PCC.

LEARN 11 Module 1 College Test Taking
This 1/2 unit course is designed to assist students in understanding the principles of test development and in acquiring confidence and skill in applying test-taking strategies.
Students will learn how to master the types of tests commonly used in their college classes as well as develop a personal strategy for test preparation. This course is typically offered in a 9-week session.

LEARN 810
Learn 810 is a one-half unit, open-entry, individualized study skills course. Students meet with a study skills instructor and may attend workshops or watch a number of study skills videotapes in order to earn credit for this course.
The course is designed to provide general study skills guidance as well as study techniques for the student's specific classes.
Students must sign-up in CLAS for Learn 810 appointments at LAC or PCC.

LEARN 617- Educational Technology Skills for College
A zero-unit (0.0) computer lab course that enables students to learn more about specific computer skills for academic success and technology resources available at LBCC.
Instructors are available to assist students in the Open Access Computer Labs (L208 and GG113) and the ITSSC (L135).

CPAS 805 Preparation for Distance Learning
This 1/2 unit course is designed to provide students with an introduction to the skills and information necessary for success in distance learning courses. Topics include study and time-management skills necessary for success in distance learning courses, as well as the technical skills required in distance learning courses such as methods of online communication, basics of word processing, email and hardware and software basics. This course typically meets one week before the regular semester begins.
