Splash Sequence
There is a splash sequence that can be thought of as the back-story or introduction. It will consist of a short animated film.
Attract Mode
When not in play, the War will sit in the Attract Mode. In this mode the screen shows some animations, controls and player profiles. Pressing any button will open the game menu.
Menu Screen / Game Select Screen
The main menu allows the gamer to select between the various game modes as well as versus and endurance modes. High scores are saved along with various statistics for the player. Levels beaten, characters unlocked, etc.
Game Engine Overview
The game can be described as a two-dimensional arcade fighting game. Sprites make up the players and attacks on the screen while 3D elements make up background details and certain special attacks. The sprites move based on joystick and button combinations similar to previous SF games. The story mode in the War is designed for 1-player and the versus mode in the game is designed for 2-players.
Game Engine Detail #1
The graphics engine for the War will be a completely new engine for the series and not use pre-rendered sprites pulled from other SF games such as the VS series of Capcom fighters. The game engine will not only render the battle but will also keep track of your game score, bonus points, clock, energy meter and special finisher status bar.
Game Engine Detail #2
The game engine will also render a world map between levels to show the progress and cities liberated or conquered depending on which paths the player takes. News bulletins and updates of countries being invaded will also pass at cut-scenes during the world map.
Game Engine Detail #3
An inventory of items unlocked will be kept in a separate file and can be accessed between levels.
