The Game
These design webpages are written with the assumption that the reader is mostly familiar with the Street Fighter universe. Any source material can be found in the History or Philosophy pages. The Mad Gear War, or War for short, is designed to be the first home console version of the Street Fighter series. On the following pages are my general design goals for the title. Below is the general story explaining the plot of the newest fighting tournament.
The plot behind the War
The World Fighting Tournament IV is upon us. Martial artists of every nationality enter the secretive tournament by invitation only. Rumors persist that the tournament is nothing more than a recruitment agency. Soldiers are needed because a War is coming. There are no means of aversion, no armistice, no peace plan. The strongest will overrun the world by force and by fist. Two armies are ready to tear the world in half. The factions vying for world supremacy are as secretive as they are dangerous. Their names echo in the halls of the superpowers: Mad Gear
Shadowlaw
they are folklore and superstition. Surely no rogue nation on Earth can harness the manpower to overthrow several governments!
Shadowlaw was a military power destroyed by the United Nations and Interpol a decade ago. Like a shadow the military state will rise when other nations are at their brightest. Tyrannical Vega and his army of cyborgs are poised to challenge the free world once more.
Mad Gear is the largest criminal network in the world. The Mafia, Yakuza and Triad crime syndicates are but extensions of Mad Gear. Mad Gear will never allow Shadowlaw to come into power again. Rumors persist that corporate citizen Belger runs the network. These accusations have never been proven true for Belger has not been seen in public for many years after he was thrown from the top of his office building in Metro City by a radical. Belger survived the fall and has steadily been rebuilding an empire that will come in conflict with Vega.
These two power-hungry men are about to make the fears of the peaceful nations into reality. A third man known only as Gill remains shrouded in mystery. Perhaps he is the key that will liberate or destroy humanity. Each of these men may shake the world to its core. The only hope against the armies lie within in a team of secret government agents and unwittingly by a group of the greatest fighters ever assembled.
